Attorney Matt A.V. Mitcham, has been providing legal services and representation to clients in Florida for over the last twelve years.  He started his own firm in 2004, after receiving extensive litigation experience as an Assistant State Attorney, or criminal prosecutor at the Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office, in the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit.  Mr. Mitcham also was able to gain a vast amount of experience in family law litigation, while working under a prominent family law attorney in Tampa, Florida.

In 2001, Mr. Mitcham took a position at the State Attorney’s Office, after graduating from Stetson University College of Law, and passing the Florida Bar Exam.   Matt A.V. Mitcham worked in a variety of criminal divisions, including: juvenile, misdemeanor, felony, and drug court.  Mr. Mitcham handled thousands of cases during his time at the Office of the State Attorney, and tried countless jury and non-jury trials on a regular basis, while working as an Assistant State Attorney.

The experience Mr. Mitcham gained at the State Attorney’s Office, prepared him for his next challenge of obtaining the experience and knowledge in the practice of family law litigation.  Mr. Mitcham elected to pursue another area of the law, after leaving the State Attorney’s Office, and went to work with a well-respected family law attorney in Tampa.  In that firm, Mr. Mitcham gained valuable experience in all the various aspects of family law litigation.

In 2004, Matt A.V. Mitcham, decided it was time to open his own office in Tampa, where he could serve the needs of clients in both areas of criminal and family law representation.  Since that time, Mr. Mitcham has worked tirelessly and diligently to give his clients undivided personal attention to their specific litigation needs.  Mr. Mitcham strives to maintain regular contact and communication with his clients as they go through their litigation matters together.

Mr. Mitcham is a native of Tampa, Florida, with significant ties to the community.  Matt is the son of former retired Judge B. Anderson Mitcham, whom was also a criminal defense attorney for 28 years before going on the bench in a judicial capacity, as circuit court judge in the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit, before retiring after 12 years on the criminal bench, where he was the trier of fact on several high profile cases.

Matt A.V. Mitcham, attended and graduated from Jesuit High School, and then he went onto the University of Florida, on an academic scholarship, during which time, Mr. Mitcham decided to pursue a career in the legal field, just has his father did.  Mr. Mitcham started law school at Stetson University College of Law, in St. Petersburg, Florida, in 1999.  Then in 2001, Mr. Mitcham graduated, and passed the Florida Bar Exam, and then began his legal career as an Assistant State Attorney.

In 2005, Mr. Mitcham was admitted to practice in the United States Supreme Court, and also admitted to practice in the United States Middle District of Florida Court, the same year.  During his years of practice, Mr. Mitcham has participated as an adjunct professor of legal courses at Southwest Florida College, and has appeared regularly on the Fox13 “Ask A Lawyer” live program.

Today, Matt A.V.
